• Detailed CAD design
Our primary engineering development tool is Pro/Engineer. With part and assembly design, analysis and optimisation and many other tools within one package, we have the ability to develop the design into the most optimal form from both a functional and cost viewpoint.
• Functional prototypes
Ensuring the design will function as intended. Physical prototypes are created from the CAD model and tested. This stage ensures that mechanical aspects of product meet the functional requirements of the brief. This iterative process reduces the need for modifying parts after the tooling process which is very expensive. The functional prototypes can also be used by the client for other aspects of their development process.
• Design verification
Does the design fulfill the requirements of the brief? The design can be verified against the brief by both the client and Adept. Our extensive design verification process under ISO 9000 ensures that the product we design fits the brief. The client may use functional prototypes as well as aesthetic prototypes to conduct user trials to verify that the product performs as specified.
• User validation
Does the design solve the problem? The client can use a range of functioning prototypes in realistic materials to ensure that the product solves the requirements that we identified from the end user. These market or field trials can deliver important information which can be addressed immediately and the design updated. Typically this stage forms a stage gate that determines the continuation of a client’s project.
• Design for manufacture
Ensuring the design can be manufactured. A product must always be designed with manufacturing considerations. Effective design for manufacture can reduce part costs and production, as well as assembly and distribution. Adept draws on it’s in-house expertise in injection moulded parts both from a tooling and manufacturing point of view. We have a wide experience of other manufacturing processes and techniques and have established suppliers that will give us input at the detailed design stage. We can specify the optimal manufacturing approach for you.
